Susan Sarandon Bio
It was the 1968 Democratic Convention, and there was a casting call for a film that had many roles for young actors who interrupted it. Two recent graduates of Catholic University in Washington DC were invited to audition in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon was not selected, even though he had prior studies in acting. Susan, his wife Susan was chosen for a leading role as Susan Compton as the child of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill, Susan's drug dealer boyfriend, is killed in the film. Joe (Peter Boyle) is a bigot, who works on an assembly line, is next introduced to Joe (Sarandon). Janet gets involved with Dr. Frank n Furter, plays Janet in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). More than 15 years after starting her career, Sarandon finally fought for a great role, Annie in Bull Durham (1988), taking a flight on her own expense from Rome to Los Angeles. She stated "It was such an amazing script... it dispelled a lot of myths and challenged America's notion of what success is". "I attended the film studio along together with Kevin Costner and shook hands with his hot assistants, before returning to the plane. Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988), supporting actor was her first love. He was father to two boys by 1992. This put Sarandon in an awkward position. She left her home to take on the roles that were extremely challenging. There were four Academy Award nominations were received in the 1990s. The best actress award for Dead Man Walking (1995) was also given. Her first Academy Award nomination was for Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980).
